世の中のビジネスピープルは、2種類に分けられます。
飛込み営業をやれる人と、やれない人。
飛込み営業が、営業戦術として正しいか正しくないか、効率的か非効率かということは度外視して、飛込み営業をやれる人か、やれない人か。 飛込み営業がやれる人には、バイタリティを感じます。
一昨日の日経夕刊、『キャリアの軌跡』のコーナーで、平川理恵さんが紹介されていました。42歳ということですから、先ごろ行政刷新担当の大臣に就任したあの女性と同い年になるのでしょうか。そのコラム記事を読むと、平川理恵さんがバイタリティあふれる女性であることがわかります。
平川さんは大学卒業後、リクルートに就職し、「ビル倒し」と呼ばれる飛込み営業で求人広告を頂く営業の実績を積まれ、表彰を受けたそうです。その後、リクルートを卒業し自分の会社を起こして経営され、現在はその会社を売って、この4月から横浜市立の中学校の校長先生をされているそうです。（公募に応募して実現）
ユニークなキャリアを歩まれています。その上、毎朝午前3時には起きて、自分の時間を持つことも忘れないらしい。 「バイタリティあふれる」感じが伝わるでしょうか。 実に元気な女性ではありませんか？
話は少し逸れますが、僕の周囲にもリクルートを卒業した女性が何人かいます。ほぼ同世代のJ社のSちゃん、R社のGちゃん、税理士に転向したYさん、皆、引けをとらず、バイタリティあふれる女性ばかりです。きっと彼女らの誰もが、必要とあらば苦もなく飛込み営業でも何でもやってのけるでしょう。
そういえば、20年以上前、以前の仕事で僕が初めて銀座にあるリクルート本社を訪れたとき、そのときにお会いした女性社員の方もバイタリティあふれる印象を受けました。リクルートがそういう人を採用しているのか、リクルートにはそういう人が集まってくるのか（女性に限った話です）、とにかくどの女性もテンションが高く、元気の塊のような人ばかり。リクルートに限った話ではないかもしれませんが。 それはさておき。
何かと世間を賑わしたがる人事コンサルタントの城さんが、比較的最近、『7割は課長にさえなれません』（PHP新書）という本（「若者はなぜ3年で辞める」シリーズの最終章）を出されています。この本に書いてあることの半分は正しいと思うものの（マクロ経済動向や企業動向に関する分析など）、残り半分は正しいとは言えないと思っています。 なぜなら、その人次第ですので。 最初からあきらめて閉塞感に浸る必要はありません。
むしろ、若い世代には、こういう本が醸す閉塞感を、何とか打破して欲しいものです。
4年前、「PHPビジネス新書」という新書のシリーズがスタートしました。当時、シリーズの最初に刊行された新書の中に、元ボスコンの堀絋一氏が書かれた『突破力！』という本があります。いま本当に、特に若い世代に求められているのは、これだと思います。
（仕事に対する突破力／人間関係に対する突破力／キャリアに対する突破力／人生に対する突破力）
飛込み営業がやれる人は、突破力が秀でた人の典型なのかもしれません。
飛込み営業をやれということではありません。特に若いビジネスピープルには、そういう気概をもって、閉塞感のある今の時代を突破して欲しいと、切に願ってやみません。
