科学に興味の尽きない岸です。
年齢を重ねると、毎年毎年、一年が短くなっていくように感じるのは僕だけでしょうか？年々、加速度がついているような気がしてなりません。その上、一年はあっという間に過ぎていくというのに、その間に過ぎ去ったほんの数ヵ月前のこと（例えば、北京オリンピック）が、遠い過去のできごとのように感じてしまう、この前のクリスマスすら既に懐かしい・・・。それも僕だけなのでしょうか？と、思いきや、
そんな疑問に答えてくれるかのように、昨年秋、ほぼ時を同じくして、以下の新書が出版されました。
『一年は、なぜ年々速くなるのか』 （竹内 薫・著，青春新書）

どうやら同じように感じていたのは僕だけではないらしく、これらの本には、なぜそう感じるかについて、実に多くの分野（物理学、哲学、心理学、生物学、社会学、脳科学など）から、諸説、法則などが紹介され、著者の仮説も交えて、おもしろく書かれていました。
余談ながら、
・現在の”一日”という単位（「協定世界時」）は、地球の自転を基準とせず、
原子の振動数を基準としている（自転のスピードは一定ではないため）
・火星の一年（公転周期）は、687日（地球日）である
・夜空に見える４光年先にある星は、現在の姿ではなく、４年前の姿を見ている（光で４年かかる距離なので）
などなど、時間に関するトリビアも豊富で、探偵ガリレオではないですが、「実に、おもしろい」。
前者の著者が物理学博士で、後者が心理学博士というのも対照的で、考察する視点が異なり、おもしろく読めました。
それにしても、このまま年々、（実感としての）一年が短くなっていくとなると、人生80年が瞬く間に終わってしまいます。オチオチしてはおれません。『一年は、なぜ年々速くなるのか』には、「時間が速くならない工夫」まで紹介されていました。その1つは、「日々の生活がルーティンワークに陥らないようにすること」だそうです。生活を充実させて、それをしっかり脳に刻んでいくということでしょうか。
そしてまた、新しい一年が始まりました。一日一日を「本気」で生き抜き、充実させられれば、と思います。
好不況に、浮かれず、沈まず、踊らされず、やるべき事を愚直にやり続けていくのみです。

This is getting a bit more subjective, but I much prefer the Zune Marketplace. The interface is colorful, has more flair, and some cool features like 'Mixview' that let you quickly see related albums, songs, or other users related to what you're listening to. Clicking on one of those will center on that item, and another set of "neighbors" will come into view, allowing you to navigate around exploring by similar artists, songs, or users. Speaking of users, the Zune "Social" is also great fun, letting you find others with shared tastes and becoming friends with them. You then can listen to a playlist created based on an amalgamation of what all your friends are listening to, which is also enjoyable. Those concerned with privacy will be relieved to know you can prevent the public from seeing your personal listening habits if you so choose.

Between me and my husband we've owned more MP3 players over the years than I can count, including Sansas, iRivers, iPods (classic & touch), the Ibiza Rhapsody, etc. But, the last few years I've settled down to one line of players. Why? Because I was happy to discover how well-designed and fun to use the underappreciated (and widely mocked) Zunes are.

Hands down, Apple's app store wins by a mile. It's a huge selection of all sorts of apps vs a rather sad selection of a handful for Zune. Microsoft has plans, especially in the realm of games, but I'm not sure I'd want to bet on the future if this aspect is important to you. The iPod is a much better choice in that case.

The new Zune browser is surprisingly good, but not as good as the iPod's. It works well, but isn't as fast as Safari, and has a clunkier interface. If you occasionally plan on using the web browser that's not an issue, but if you're planning to browse the web alot from your PMP then the iPod's larger screen and better browser may be important.
